As you know I've moved back into my love. The filofax original in nude. I love that thing. I think I can say it's one of my top 3 faves!
I love the originals in general but there's just something about the nude? I didn't like it at first. I saw photos on Instagram and it just looked washed out and bare! I didn't like that the snap had the black cap and not a matching nude one like all the other originals, I didn't like that it was black inside and I didn't like that it was patent. Anyway, afew weeks after it'd been released, I was seeing more photos on Instagram of people setting it up with black and white inside. Well, my eyes lite up! Some of the setups I was seeing changed my mind of this beauteous thing in an instant! I set to trying to find one with no such luck!
That night hubby and I were watching a film in bed and I'd told him I'd really love one and that I wanted to nip into town over the weekend to check whsmith and Rymans. An hour or so later he turns and tells me I have one on the way!! That man is such a good egg! Of course, I set to making dividers and bits and bobs for if. When it arrived it was the softest floppiest original I've ever had! I have the fushia and purple patents and they're so so stiff and that annoys me. I like flop! I kitted it out with black and white dividers and I loved it! Alittle while after that I found some paper that instantly brought the nude into mind. It was a kind of vintage floral pattern. So pretty and I was sure it would match the nude beautifully. It did! It was the most perfect paper that could ever have been made to match the filofax! I do still love it with black and white and I switch between the two sets of dividers but the floral just sings to me everytime I open my book.
Because the nude was a gift from hubby I thought the 'with love' transfer would be a nice touch, to remind me it was from him. So this pretty much stays in the nude, I love how it looks with the flowers. Afew days ago I'd ordered so bits online and the black polka dot overlay was with the order. I didn't know what I was going to use it for but once it arrived I thought it'd look lovely as part of my dash. That and the 'with love' dash are only there for the aesthetic eye but I really like how it looks. I, of course still have my glitter scattered about the planner. Its very pale gold glitter which I much prefer with the nude.
I'm still very much in love with the Kate spade inserts. I'll be very sad next year as I just don't think I'll find anything I like as much. With the weekly spread, it's very much like a journal. I write little bits that the boys have done during that day that I want to remember. Things like that. These pages also have some reminders in, like birthdays, important school dates etc.
The monthly pages are for an overview of the month when I need to see it all in one place. I hate having to flip through the weeks to find things so the month to a view works well for me. It holds everything.... Trips, appointments, play dates, birthdays, blog post reminders, 'us' time reminders, grocerie times, sport reminders etc. it's nice to be able to see everything that's going on at any given time. I need to see it altogether or I'll forget!
I've been using the kelly purkey planner icon stamps in the month pages to. Just a quick stamp and I know I have that coming up or that I need to pay something. They're a great little find and I use them a lot.
I don't have many sections in my book anymore because I found they were just getting left behind so what I do have is very simple. I have memorable info, I have home lists and to-dos (it's true what they say, the home is never finished!!) I also have some black pages, Why no one knows but I just love how they look with the nude. I use my white or metallic gel pens on those pages. They're used for bits of everything really. School lists, lists in gereral, ideas, stockists I use for my shop, washi samples are also kept here. I have favourites that I like to remember the brands of so when they run out I know what to search for!
Because the original is very simple in pockets I have a top opening envelope at the back where I keep my stickies and bits of memorabilia for past trips or drawings the boys have done for me. Right now, I'm loving these little cat stickies. They're so gosh darn cute!!
I have certain washi tapes I like to use when I'm in the nude. They're usually black and white, glitter and pinks!
When it comes to the decoration on my pages, I don't usually do much. I'll probably use washi but then I also use die cuts. I just stick them on the page and they look lovely. They're pretty much like stickers but I have to use glue instead but I like that it give the pages a lift from just abit of washi. These are some of my faves at the moment :)
In the back pocket I keep some notecards and envelopes. I find these really handy, especially if I need to send a note into one of the boys teachers. It just looks nicer than a piece of ripped paper all folded and tatty!
I found the washi strips that I LOVE to! I'll just cut what I need and put the rest back so I don't waste them. I really like the prints on these and wish I could find them in rolls 😍
Like I said before my setup is pretty simple. I like that it has no fuss. Only a few sections works well for me and I find I don't over stuff. When I have more sections I just add more and more pages that I never need!
How's your planner set up? I'd love to see. Be sure to tag me in YT videos or send me links to your fave blogs. I love a good nose lol!
Have a glorious evening!
